When a seagull chose a parking lot in Sandefjord, Norway as her nesting site last spring, workers removed the nest to discourage her. She rebuilt it overnight and laid her eggs before anyone could intervene. The city's response? Traffic cones. An official statement. And a name: Gunhild, after the very first resident of the Nygård community back in 1977. "Gunhild has granted himself a short-term stay at Nygård," the city announced. Nobody is complaining about losing a parking spot.
